NORTH BEND, Wash. — A wrong-way driver was killed in a crash involving two semitrucks that shut down eastbound I-90 at milepost 38 Wednesday night in North Bend, Washington State Patrol said.
Troopers said a pickup truck heading westbound in the eastbound lanes caused one semitruck to hit another semitruck around 9:30 p.m. The first semitruck saw the wrong-way driver, swerved to avoid the pickup, and hit the trailer of the second semitruck.
The pickup then hit one of the semitrucks head-on before coming to rest.
The driver who caused the crash, a 26-year-old man from Texas, died at the scene, troopers said.
One of the semi drivers was transported to Overlake Hospital.
The eastbound lanes reopened around 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
