AUBURN, Wash. — A driver is dead after crashing on State Route 18 in Auburn.
Officials with Washington State Patrol said a 51-year-old woman was going eastbound on SR 18, approaching State Route 167, when she struck a barrier on the right side and then crossed the road, striking a left side barrier.
The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
It is not yet known what led to the woman striking the barrier, but officials said drugs or alcohol were believed to be involved.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
