LYNNWOOD, Wash. — A dog was killed, and a woman injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Friday evening in Lynnwood, police said.
The hit-and-run happened about 4:45 p.m., when a dark-colored SUV heading southbound on 52nd Avenue West turned left onto 188th Street as two people were walking in the crosswalk, police said.
Authorities said the vehicle hit the dog and injured a woman in her 50s as she tried to help the animal.
The woman was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries and the dog died at the scene, police said.
The vehicle fled the scene.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run or has information about the vehicle to call 425-670-5600.
