Deputies recover remains of man believed to have been killed by 84-year-old in August

EVERETT, Wash. — Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives recovered on Friday the remains of an Everett man who detectives believe was killed in August.

The 49-year-old victim is believed to have been killed at a home in the 8800 block of Del Campo Drive. Detectives are back at the home Friday serving an additional search warrant.

The victim’s remains were recovered in Kittitas County in October and were positively identified as the 49-year-old victim.

Everett man Lloyd Richmond, 84, is accused of both murder and assault.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies said Richmond and his 49-year-old tenant got into an argument on Saturday, Aug. 28.

According to court papers, a neighbor heard three gunshots immediately afterward.

The neighbor told police that Richmond pulled out a large tarp and then wrapped an unidentified object in it.

Police believe Richmond then lifted that object into back of his truck and drove away.

According to court documents, police went to Richmond’s property where they said they found a large red stain in the driveway. The whereabouts of the victim’s body were not known at that time.

Police said they believe Richmond used bleach to cover up evidence of the crime.

Richmond is being held at the Snohomish County Jail on a $1.2 million bail.
