KING COUNTY, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an 8-year-old child was killed Tuesday morning in a domestic violence incident near Redmond.

It happened at a home in the English Hill neighborhood on 179th Avenue Northeast, near Northeast 136th.

The sheriff’s office received the 911 call just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Within an hour, Woodinville Fire & Rescue tweeted that one person was dead and another had been taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Hours later, the sheriff’s spokesman only would say that a suspect is in custody.

On Thursday, deputies said the victim’s 37-year-old father was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted and non-life-threatening injuries the day of the incident.

The man remains in the hospital and under custody.

No other injuries were reported, and there are no other suspects in the case at this time, deputies said.
