WEST SEATTLE, Wash. — A man who has avoided arrest for eight years was taken into custody on Thursday.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), 36-year-old Jerry Denson was placed on Washington’s Most Wanted list in 2017 for failure to appear in court on a vehicular homicide charge.
WSP says on March 17, 2017, Denson was allegedly driving under the influence when he crashed and rolled his car on I-5 in Kent, killing his 28-year-old passenger, who was ejected from the vehicle.
He failed to show up for court, and a warrant for his arrest was issued in October of that year, according to court records.
Over the last few months, WSP detectives and the Organized Crime Intel Unit worked with the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force to narrow down his whereabouts and take him into custody.
On April 2, Denson was arrested in West Seattle.
“No matter how much time passes, we will continue to pursue those who evade accountability for serious crimes,” said Trisena Sharff, Captain of the Washington State Patrol’s Criminal Investigative Division. “Today’s arrest is the result of relentless investigative work and strong partnerships, and we hope it brings some measure of justice to the Brannon family.”
Benson is being held on $100,000 bail.
