A day of service: How the KIRO 7 team is volunteering on MLK Day

Monday is the 25th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, a day of service that celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy.

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service -- a day on, not a day off -- to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

The KIRO 7 News team is kicking off 2020 with a commitment to helping make a difference in our community.

We are supporting organizations across the region on this Day of Service with a goal for our collective effort to help provide solutions to the pressing challenges being faced by the most vulnerable members of our community.

This story will be updated throughout the day to show some of the acts of service.

If you need help with your own service ideas, check out this list of volunteer opportunities with KIRO 7 Cares partners here.
