Crystal Mountain Resort announced Wednesday it will open its Mt. Rainier Gondola on Saturday and Sunday.

Crystal Mountain officials said guests will be able to take a ride and enjoy the views and access to the Summit House, Washington's highest elevation restaurant.

Those who are Ikon Pass holders can ride the gondola for free, according to a release from Crystal Mountain Resort. Discounts will also be available on retail and dining for pass holders.

Resort officials said it will be giving away prizes this weekend for the start of the new season.

Officials said with snow in the forecast for next week and with optimal snow-making conditions, the resort is poised to open for skiing and snowboarding as close to Thanksgiving as possible.
