SEQUIM, Wash. — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a hit-and-run suspect who led police on a high-speed chase in Sequim.
On Sept. 11 around 4:30 a.m., deputies were called to the Jamestown S’Klallam Longhouse on Highway 101 for reports of suspected drug use by someone near the gas pumps.
Deputies approached a vehicle where a man, later identified as 42-year-old Brian Arnold, was sitting. According to the sheriff’s office, Arnold was believed to be under the influence of drugs.
When deputies told Arnold he was detained, he sped off.
According to the sheriff’s office, Arnold drove his vehicle in a “reckless and evasive manner while traveling at speeds near 120 mph” while deputies were in pursuit.
“Due to Arnold’s reckless driving behavior, including high speeds and driving into oncoming lanes of travel, the pursuit was terminated by a supervisor at Highway 101 and Blue Mountain Rd,” the sheriff’s office said.
About two minutes after stopping the chase, 911 told deputies that there was a hit-and-run crash at Deer Park Loop.
Deputies said they learned that the vehicle that drove off from the hit-and-run matched Arnold’s vehicle.
The driver of the hit vehicle was not injured.
A few minutes later, Arnold’s vehicle was located at Deer Park Rd. and Wall St. in Port Angeles. Arnold was not in the vehicle.
Deputies said they obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, and during the search, they said they located suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and drug paraphernalia.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
