Caught on camera: U-Haul slams into new Tacoma scooter shop

TACOMA, Wash. — It was a grand slam of sorts as a U-Haul was caught on camera slamming into a new scooter shop in Tacoma.

Surveillance video from the shop captured the action at about 4:18 a.m. Friday.

The owner said the U-Haul rolled into a showroom full of new Vespas and Piaggio scooters.

The store plans to celebrate its grand opening this weekend but the owner said it already had its first “party crasher.”

“Apparently some people couldn’t wait till we opened our doors this morning,” said owner Mark Helgen.

Despite the damage, South Sound Scooters moved forward with its first day and welcomed customers.

The owner said Tacoma police are investigating.
