CARBONADO, Wash. — The Carbonado Volunteer Fire Department is set to welcome a shiny, new member to their team.
The fire department took to Facebook Oct. 14 to announce that they had been granted $902,000 via FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
With the $902,000 and additional funds from Carbonado, the Carbonado Fire Department plans to buy a new fire engine.
“This is a historic moment, as we are not aware of ever having the luxury or privilege of acquiring or purchasing a brand new truck,” the Carbonado Volunteer Fire Department wrote on Facebook.
The Carbonado Volunteer Fire Department writes that the Carbonado Town Council accepted the award earlier last week, Oct. 12, and that they will provide further updates later.
