PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police said they arrested a driver who drove into protesters early Wednesday.

It happened near the Justice Center at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Main Street.

Multiple demonstrations happened Tuesday through the early morning hours of Wednesday.

Just after 1 a.m., a car approached a crowd, hit several protesters and sped away, driving the wrong way on streets. Police said the car appeared to be followed by several other cars associated with protesters.

Officers found three people who were hit. Two were taken to the hospital by medics. The third was driven to the hospital in someone’s car. Their injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

Police were able to track the suspect’s car from the air and direct officers on the ground. The suspect stopped the car and ran away on Southeast Clinton Street, where he was arrested.

Officers say the driver also hit at least one other car and a barrier during the incident.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Anthony Eaglehorse-Lassandro, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for investigation of three counts of felony hit-and-run, reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance.
