A 28-year-old Burien man was arrested Friday by Redmond Police in connection with multiple vehicle thefts across the Puget Sound.

According to a statement by the Redmond Police Department, the man would arrange to purchase vehicles through online marketplaces, then allegedly provide sellers with fraudulent checks before taking the cars.

The suspect was arrested in Bellevue and booked on charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Forgery, and Trafficking of Stolen Property in the First Degree. He also had multiple outstanding felony warrants.

In a statement, the Redmond Police Department cautioned people selling a car online to authenticate a buyer’s payment and keep the vehicle until the sale is verified.
