Police investigating after woman's body found in northwest Olympia

OLYMPIA, WASH. — UPDATE: The Olympia Police Department said the death is believed to have been the result of a suicide, but the investigation will continue.

An investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found overnight in northwest Olympia.

Police were called to a report of a person down in the 1200 block of West Bay Drive Northwest along the waterfront about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers say the victim appears to be in her 20s.

Investigators say the woman suffered significant injuries that may have led to her death, but police have not said what the injuries were.

KIRO 7 Reporter Ranji Sinha said the crime scene is very large and includes a large swath of land along the bay that is cordoned off as well as an abandoned warehouse.

West Bay Drive Northwest is closed in the area.
