GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — A body recovered from a south Grant County lake has been identified as that of a missing Othello man, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said.
The Sheriff's Office confirmed Saturday that it is the body of 36-year-old Arthur Valentino Madrigal.
Madrigal's body was recovered Wednesday from Canal Lake, which is about six miles southwest of Warden, officials said.
Jones said Canal Lake is in southeast Grant County and is south of Potholes Reservoir in a large cluster of lakes known as the Seep Lakes area, Jones said.
There was an extensive seven-week search for Madrigal after he was reported missing Aug. 3 from Heart Lake and included many diving missions, Jones said.
"Madrigal was in the company of a 20-year-old female. Madrigal and the female arrived to the area in a burgundy-colored Dodge truck," deputies said.
There is an ongoing investigation as detectives are waiting on the results of an autopsy.
