Bicyclist seriously hurt in crash with car in Kirkland

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Police are investigating an injury crash involving a bicyclist and a car.

It happened at around midnight Friday in the 11700 block of eastbound Northeast 85th Street. Video from the scene showed numerous evidence markers scattered across the road around a bicycle.

The street was closed at the crash scene but has since reopened.

The bicyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center, according to NORCOMM 911. Their injuries may be “life-changing,” but it is not know what their injuries are.

Initially, there was confusion as to whether the crash was a hit-and-run because the driver involved continued up the street to find a safe place to pull over, according to Kirkland police.

There is no bike lane on the street where the crash happened.

Police said the driver is cooperating and has no signs of being impaired.
