PROSSER, Wash. — The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deadly shooting of a man in Prosser.

Prosser is an agricultural city with a population of 6,000 and is located off Interstate 82, 30 miles east of the Tri-Cities, according to the Prosser Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 12 around 6 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting on N Rothrock Road.

The 911 caller reported that his brother had been shot in a drive-by and was unresponsive.

The caller did not have any suspect information.

Through further investigation, detectives and deputies determined the incident was not a drive‑by shooting.

It was later discovered that the 911 caller, a 25-year-old man, allegedly shot his 27-year-old brother during a fight, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect fired multiple rounds at his brother, hitting him in the arm and abdomen.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies recovered multiple shell casings along the driveway, extending from the victim’s location toward the home.

The 25-year-old was arrested for second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
