Arlington crash victim hopes to find four strangers who saved her life

ARLINGTON, Wash. — A woman who survived a car crash on I-5 in Arlington said she owes four complete strangers for saving her life.

The crash happened early Saturday morning near Marysville.

Emily Mitchell, 23, said a suspected drunk driver crashed into her SUV, and her vehicle rolled over into the middle of the freeway.

When she crawled out of her car, she said four women in another vehicle stopped and helped her to safety.

“They waited until the paramedics got there. They were also calm and not panicking, which really helped because I was freaking out,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell has spent the last three days in the hospital.

She underwent surgery for hand injuries, and also suffered a concussion.

Her friends started a GoFundMe Page for the single mother, who said if it weren't for the good Samaritans, her 11-month-old son would have lost his only parent.

“At the end of the day, it boils down to they saved my life,” said Mitchell.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the suspected drunk driver is 19 has been arrested for vehicular assault.

The case is still under investigation.
