SEATTLE — Sound Transit is investigating what caused a light rail train to stall near Seattle’s University District after Sunday’s Apple Cup rivalry football game.
According to Sound Transit, one of their northbound 2 Line trains experienced a mechanical malfunction just before 6 p.m.
As a result, it stopped between the University of Washington and Roosevelt stations.
The service disruption left thousands of UW and WSU fans stuck for about two hours.
Rescue trains transported the passengers who were on the stranded train, and a shuttle train operated on the southbound track between University of Washington and Northgate stations while responders moved the disabled train.
Normal operations resumed at about 8:20 p.m.
