92-year-old Seattle woman dances after getting COVID-19 vaccine

SEATTLE — Residents at Parkshore in Seattle’s Madison Park neighborhood were some of the first in long term care to get the COVID vaccine. Ninety-two year-old LaVaughn “Lovie” Therriault was so excited to get the vaccine she stood up and danced.

“This shot is the beginning of the end,” Therriault said.

Parkshore is a retirement community that offers independent living, assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing.

On Monday, the clinical team at Parkshore received a delivery of Pfizer’s vaccine from Consonus, their long term care pharmacy.

They were able to vaccinate all of their residents in assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing, as well as about half of their employees.

The vaccines are going to all six of Transforming Age’s communities in the Pacific Northwest.

“Honored, blessed. relieved,” said Roger Moore, Health Services Director at Parkshore. “A historic event like this we have to pinch ourselves. No one’s ever done this before and here we are working on this.”
