6 people hurt in shooting near bus stop in Kent

KENT, Wash. — Six people were hurt Monday evening near a bus stop in Kent, police said.

The shooting happened on Pacific Highway South near the area of 232nd and Kent Des Moines Road.

Investigators said a Des Moines officer located a shooting victim after being flagged down by a witness.

When officers arrived, five more people had a gunshot wounds.

Five people were taken to Harborview Medical Center, and the sixth person had minor injuries and was released from the scene. According to police, three of the five people are in serious condition and the other two are in satisfactory condition.

Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said the five people shot were males and their ages ranged from 16 to 49.

According to investigators, shooting does not appear to be random.

Three people were detained but it is unknown if they are suspects or their involvement.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting.
