SPOKANE, Wash. — A 47-year-old Coulee Dam man was sentenced to 10 years in prison last Wednesday, Aug. 26.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the man, Douglas Lee Clark, will serve 10 years for sexually abusing a minor, and will be supervised 10 years after serving his sentence.
Clark plead guilty to sexually touching a minor back in March, after the victim came forward.
According to the press release, the victim says Clark inappropriately touched her for two years, between January 2019 to January 2021.
The victim informed a parent of a friend about the repeated incidents, and a forensic interview was conducted shortly after.
Within the interview, the victim told the investigators that Clark complimented her and “[rubbed] her legs,” starting around when the victim was 10 years old. The victim also said Clark would touch her genitals while she slept, according to the press release.
“Mr. Clark abused a child in his care who deserved safety in her own home, and then tried to intimidate her into keeping silent,” Seattle FBI Special Agent W. Mike Herrington said. “I deeply appreciate the courage this victim displayed in advocating for herself and bringing these crimes to light. While no sentence can undo this traumatic experience, we hope it brings a measure of comfort that justice has been served and sends a clear message to others.”
