THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Over 180 outages hit Thurston County on Friday, knocking out power for more than 42,000 customers, according to Puget Sound Energy data.
KIRO 7 has been tracking the outages in the county. As the afternoon passes, thousands of customers have gotten their power back, but the overall number of outages in the county continues to climb.
Power dropped as fallen trees and power lines blocked highways in the area.
According to PSE, the largest outages affected hundreds to thousands in east Thurston County, with dozens of smaller outages affecting smaller buildings along SR 507.
As traffic delays wane and roads are cleared, PSE says it is investigating the cause of the outages, but customers have no timeline for when they can expect power to be restored.
