3 injured in crash on I-5 in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Three people were airlifted to the hospital after a crash on I-5 in Federal Way.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes, just south of State Route 18.

Troopers said the crash involved two cars and that one of the cars caught on fire.

“Causing driver is also being flown to Harborview, and there is suspected impairment,” said trooper Rick Johnson.

Johnson told KIRO 7 the causing driver is in custody.

The crash blocked all lanes of traffic and slowly reopened.

Drivers are advised to take alternate routes and to avoid the area.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
