Scene of double shooting in Tacoma near Emerald Queen Casino

TACOMA, Wash. — A man is dead and three other people are hurt after two separate double shootings in Tacoma.

The latest shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday near the Emerald Queen Casino. About six hours before that, two men were shot in Tacoma’s hilltop neighborhood Monday night.

Police said the Monday night shooting happened around 7:30 p.m.. A man went into a gas station near Sprague Avenue and South 15th Street in the Hilltop neighborhood and told the people inside that he and his friend had been shot while sitting inside their parked car.

Officers found the car in the 1800 block of South 15th Street and an unresponsive man in driver’s seat.

Officers started lifesaving measures on the 22-year-old man until medics arrived but he died at the scene.

The other victim, a 20-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Investigators say they’re unsure if the incident was a drive-by shooting.

“At this time, I do not know if a vehicle was involved or if the suspect or suspects were on foot,” said Tacoma Police Department Officer Wendy Haddow.
