2 motorcyclists killed in separate Seattle crashes

SEATTLE — Two motorcyclists were killed Friday in separate crashes in Seattle, police said.

At about 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a crash at Military Road South and 29th Avenue South.

A witness said he was driving when a motorcyclist passed him at a high rate of speed.

Police said the motorcycle rider appeared to accelerate, then lost control of the bike and hit a guard rail.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Police said the bike was reported stolen in Seattle earlier this month.

After 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash near the 4th Avenue exit ramp of the Spokane Street viaduct.

Investigators said a motorcyclist mistakenly took the 4th Avenue exit and was going too fast to navigate the turn. He crashed into a guard rail and was thrown from his bike.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
