2 killed after car crashes into building in Bremerton

Two people were killed in a single-car crash in Bremerton early Saturday morning after the car left the roadway and hit a building, the Bremerton Police Department announced.

According to the police department, officers were called to a car that had crashed into a building on Wheaton Way near Sheridan Road around 2 a.m.

Police said there were four occupants in the car. The car was headed northbound on Wheaton Way at a high rate of speed before crossing into oncoming lanes and losing control.

The car then went airborne before hitting a building. Two occupants were dead when officers arrived and the other two, including the driver, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

The ages of the occupants range from 21 to 26 years old, police said. Investigators believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

The roadway was closed from the time of the crash until about 7:45 a.m.
