RANDLE, Wash. — An 18-year-old Bainbridge Island pilot crashed into the Cispus River in Randle around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook, the 18-year-old and a 27-year-old passenger experienced engine issues at about 4,000 feet.
The plane was then discovered in the Cispus River, close to Forrest Road 23, according to the Facebook post.
While no one was hurt in the crash, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office noted that they have turned over the crash report to the FAA to investigate.
“We are grateful that both occupants are safe and appreciate the quick response and teamwork of all the agencies involved,” the post reads.
