16-year-old boy injured in Tacoma shooting

Tacoma police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Sunday evening.

He was shot on North Pearl Street between 42nd and 44th Streets at about 5 p.m.

According to police, the boy was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear if any arrests were made.

Details are still trickling in, but one neighbor said she heard the gunshots from inside her home.

“I was just sitting in my office and heard four shots. Of course, I stood up, recognizing those were gunshots. And I look out the window and I see a car do a U-turn on a busy street. And the next thing I realize there were sirens and just a lot of police activity,” said Sue Goetz.

The shooting is the third in Tacoma in four days. Two 13-year-olds were shot last Thursday, one fatally.

Pierce County Mayor Victoria Woodards and Tacoma Police Chief Avery Moore had strong words on that day, calling it a “tragic day for Tacoma.”

No arrest has been made in those shootings, either.
