One person has died after two vehicles were involved in a ‘mechanical mishap’ near the Misqually River Bridge on I-5 in Thurston County.
After closing all lanes of traffic, the cars on the bridge were allowed through in one lane before the road was closed and traffic was diverted.
Shortly before 7pm, the Washington Department of Transportation announced drivers would be rerouted to Nisqually Exit 114.
The department said they expect the closure to be ‘lengthy’.
According to Washington State Trooper Kameron Watts, one of the cars caught fire.

The freeway is fully blocked and being diverted at MP 110 due to a vehicle explosion that occurred before the bridge.
Unfortunately there was a fatality involved in this incident and the roadway will be closed for an unknown amount of time.
This is a developing story; more information will be provided when available.
