FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — One person died, and three others were taken to the hospital Sunday morning because of a crash on I-5 near Federal Way.
The Federal Way Police Department says the crash involved multiple cars – including one that belongs to a trooper with Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened sometime around 3:30 a.m. near South 336th Street.
According to police, the trooper tried to stop a 24-year-old from Kent, believed to be driving under the influence.
The driver refused to stop and instead, according to police, continued for about 13 miles on I-5 before hitting another car and losing control, crashing into one of the pursuing troopers’ vehicles.
One person inside the car died, and three others were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
The driver suspected of DUI was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.
