Family-friendly nudist colony resident investigated for child porn

A man King County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe is sexually attracted to children has been living at Fraternity Snoqualmie, a family-friendly private nudist park near Issaquah.

ISSAQUAH, Wash. — According to a search warrant, 43-year old William B. Cline is under investigation for possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, or possession of child pornography.

The images were discovered by two Fraternity Snoqualmie, or “FS," residents earlier this summer, according to police documents.  The nudist camp has an open wireless network for residents to use.  While a member was using the network, he told investigators he saw a folder titled “Bills Laptop 2” with over 1,000 images, many of them depicting children as young as 10 years old engaged in sexual activity with adults.

FS spokeswoman Dawnzella Gearhart told KIRO 7 that Cline moved his recreational vehicle to the park this summer.  “As soon as his behavior with respect to pornographic pictures and videos on his computer became apparent, FS conducted an investigation,” Gearhart said.  “The investigation confirmed the activity suspected on the part of Mr. Cline,” according to the camp spokeswoman.

The King County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.  In July, a detective visited the rural park and questioned witnesses.  Cline’s computers and digital devices were seized.

Cline has not been arrested but he was “removed from the park and is not welcome to return,” according to Gearhart.

The King County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment but told KIRO 7, the investigation is ongoing.

FS members and detectives do not believe that any of the children depicted in the images are members of or visitors to Fraternity Snoqualmie.

Mr. Cline moved a recreational vehicle to Fraternity Snoqualmie (FS) this summer.  As soon as his behavior with respect to pornographic pictures and videos on his computer became apparent, FS conducted an investigation.  The investigation confirmed the activity suspected on the part of Mr. Cline.

The authorities were contacted by FS with what was considered to be sufficient evidence of his suspected activities.  Shortly thereafter, the King County Sheriff’s office seized evidence.  FS has cooperated fully with the law enforcement investigation and will continue to do so.  Mr. Cline has been removed from the park and is not welcome to return.

It is truly unfortunate that this type of activity exists in society.  Those who wish to sexually exploit individuals have been discovered in churches, Boy Scout troops and other social organizations.  In an effort to keep FS free of this activity, all members and guests are subjected to rigorous background checks and those failing such checks are not welcome to enter or join.  FS will continue to exercise vigilance against this type of activity and continue to expel those who conduct themselves in a manner that jeopardizes the health or well-being of our members or visitors..
