Man, woman shot and killed inside Kent motel room

KENT, Wash. — Two people were shot and killed inside a Kent motel room Tuesday night.

The shootings happened at the Kent Valley Motel off Central Avenue North between the Marlatt Funeral Home and Kent Memorial Park. Officers were called to the scene at 10:23 p.m.

Multiple people called 911 to report sounds of gunshots inside one of the rooms. One caller told dispatchers, “there has been a murder,” according to Kent police.

Officers arrived to find two victims with gunshot wounds inside a room and gave them medical aid, but both victims — a 43-year-old Kent man and a 32-year-old Alaska woman — died from their injuries.

Kent police Major Crimes Detectives continue to investigate.

No suspect has been identified.

“Early reports indicate that this was not a random incident,” Kent police said.
