Convicted rapist in court for attacks on and threats against other sex offenders

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Timothy Cannon is a convicted rapist who once claimed he would kill other rapists and child molesters and make videos of the murders. He once tried to kill notorious South Hill rapist Kevin Coe, and threatened to rape a relative of Green River killer Gary Ridgway.

Now Cannon has been charged with assaulting a fellow sex offender undergoing treatment on McNeil Island.

“This is a convicted sex offender who talks about assaulting and even killing other sex offender,” said Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Lindquist. “And he’s not only talking about it, he’d acted on it.”

Cannon, 47, is accused of attacking convicted child molester Robert Danforth, described as a mentally handicapped man with a history of sex crimes in September.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Cannon was found by staff members standing over Danforth after throwing a cup of hot water in his face, causing second-degree burns and blisters. When he was ordered to his room Cannon instead started punching Danforth.

The affidavit states Cannon then said, “Man, it felt so good to beat the (expletive) out of one of those rapo’s. I need to get back to D.O.C. so I can be around some real convicts, not these (expletive) chimos.(“Chimo” is a name commonly used to identify a child molester.)

Cannon admitted stabbing Kevin Coe with a makeshift knife while in prison with Coe at the Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Wall in 1994. Coe was convicted of a series of violent rapes in Spokane's South Hill neighborhood between 1978 and 1981. Coe required 100 stitches because of his injuries.

“He’ll be removed from the special commitment center, which is civil confinement, and sent into the department of corrections to serve time in prison, which is weirdly what he wants,” said Lindquist.

Cannon was first convicted of statutory rape in King County in 1988.
