Downtown Leavenworth reopened after bomb threat

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday a 911 caller said that a bomb had been placed in a trash can near 8th Street and Front Street in downtown Leavenworth.

Authorities immediately evacuated a large portion of the downtown corridor. Highway 2 was closed in the area and traffic rerouted. Nearby Cascade Medical was put under lockdown.

Just before 2:30 a.m. KIRO 7 was told that the area had been cleared and peopled were being allowed to return.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said no device was found.
