Dallas rapper Yella Beezy accused of child endangerment

DALLAS — Dallas-based rapper Yella Beezy is accused of child endangerment, sexual assault and the unlawful carrying of a weapon, authorities said.

The rapper, 30, whose legal name is Markies Deandre Conway, was arrested Thursday afternoon by police in Plano, Texas, The Dallas Morning News reported. He was charged with abandoning or endangering a child and unlawful carrying of a weapon, as well as an outstanding warrant for a charge of sexual assault, the newspaper reported.

According to Collin County jail records, he posted $57,500 bail Friday.

Conway opened for Beyoncé and Jay-Z in 2018 when the couple performed at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, according to KTVT.

Conway was raised in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, according to the Morning News. He is known for his mixes of “Ain’t No Goin’ Bacc and “Baccend Beezy,” according to the newspaper.

On Friday, Conway released a new single, titled “I Guess,” accompanied by a music video for the song, People reported. He also announced that he had signed with Asylum Records, the magazine reported.

In October 2018, the rapper was shot three times while driving on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville, KTVT reported. He was hospitalized for more than a week, according to the Morning News.

Conway was arrested in February on a misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon, the newspaper reported. He was arrested after Dallas police performed a traffic stop and found five guns in the SUV Conway was driving. According to police, Conway is a documented gang member and prohibited to have handguns in his car.

Conway also was arrested in August by police in Allen, Texas, on drug and weapons charges, the Morning News reported.
