DARRINGTON, Wash. — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team found the body of a man near Beaver Lake, southeast of Darrington, Wednesday.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the team received a report of an abandoned vehicle off Mountain Loop Highway.
Deputies went to the home of the registered owner, but the man was not home.
Starting at the location of the vehicle, the team began a search of the area. Shortly before 9 a.m., searchers found the body of a 64-year-old Marysville man about a half-mile away in a wooded area.
It is believed the man became disoriented, walked off the trail and then fell down a steep embankment.
The man will be identified, and his cause of death determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
