Seattle sculptor reflects on art installation at Magnuson Park

SEATTLE — Seattle sculptor John T. Young is celebrating 23 years since the unveiling of his art installation, The Fin Project, at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.

The project is about both world peace and recycling.

However, as the years have gone on, it has become more and more about a third subject -- our southern resident orcas.

The Fin Project is also a tribute to the Cold War Submariners, Navy personnel who served on those submarines in the 1970s and ’80s.

KIRO 7 photojournalist Bill Skok caught up with Young and discusses the latter’s reflections in the video above.
