SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department arrested seven men in a prostitution bust on Aurora Avenue North.
The men ranged in age from 22 years old to 64. According to police, the majority of the men were in their twenties.
The bust happened on Tuesday. More than 20 people from the department were deployed to the corridor after concerns from the community about high levels of prostitution.
In June, Seattle closed four streets near Aurora Avenue to crack down on violence and sex trafficking.
The decision came after neighbors took matters into their own hands, installing barriers on several streets after multiple shootouts.
During one incident, more than 40 rounds were fired. During another, a sleeping baby was nearly hit.
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said the homemade barricades were a clear message that something needed to be done.
