SEATTLE — The Seattle Fire Department says two people are dead and five others are hurt, including a child, after a shooting at the Seattle Center near the Space Needle.
One woman is currently in surgery at Harborview Medical Center.
A two-year-old boy, a 39-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old boy were also taken to Harborview Medical Center and are stable.
A 40-year-old woman with minor injuries declined transport to a hospital.
The range of injuries involve the arm, leg, abdomen and lower leg.
KIRO 7 has heard from police on the scene that there are people sheltered at the Seattle Armory.
Haborview Medical Center told KIRO 7 just after 7 p.m. that they will be treating multiple victims of the shooting.
At the time of the incident, the area was filled with people attending the annual Bite of Seattle food festival.
KIRO 7 crews have heard police telling people to leave the area, saying, “It is not safe.”
It is not yet clear how many suspects there are or if they are in custody.
The Seattle Center Monorail has confirmed that service is shut down for the remainder of Sunday. It will resume Monday at 7:30 a.m.
