BUFFALO — Less than a day after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, Jon Ryan appears to have already found a new home.

Ian Rappaport, of the NFL Network, reported Tuesday that Ryan was on his way to Buffalo Tuesday morning and is expected to sign with the Bills soon.

The Bills became a logical landing spot for Ryan, after their punter Cory Carter tore his ACL in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns last weekend. Ryan will still have to compete with the Bills punter from last season, Colton Schmidt, who is on their active roster.

In Buffalo, Ryan would be reunited with kicker Steven Hauschka, who spent played for the Seahawks from 2011-2016.

Ryan reportedly asked for his release from the Seahawks on Tuesday, as all signs point to rookie fifth-round draft pick Michael Dickson winning the punting job in Seattle.

Ryan, 36, is the longest-tenured Seahawk, having played under three head coaches: Mike Holmgren, Jim Mora Jr., and Pete Carroll. He’s missed just one regular season game in 12 years.

Ryan began his career in 2004, when the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected him 24th overall in the Canadian College Draft. He eventually signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2006, where he played for two seasons before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2008.

In a decade with Seattle, Ryan appeared in 159 games and averaged 44.8 yards per punt.
