BLAINE, Wash. — Three Mexican citizens were arrested after they entered the United States illegally, officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said they found the men hiding under garbage bags Sunday during a routine inspection of a southbound freight train in Blaine, Washington.

The three men, ranging in age from 24 to 33, were processed for removal from the United States and were transported to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, officials said.

“This arrest is an excellent example of our officers’ vigilance and an outstanding example of teamwork with the Border Patrol to secure our border,” said Area Port Director Kenneth L. Williams.
