Police release photo in attempt to identify body found near WWU residence hall

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University police have released a photo of a man who they say was found dead near a residence hall in March. Police are hoping to identify him.

Police said the man was found around 2 p.m. March 5 in a wooded area north of the Buchanan Towers North Residence Hall on Western’s main campus in Bellingham.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 190 pounds. A sketch of the man was released in late March.

The Whatcom County medical examiner ruled out foul play in the man’s death, and University officials said earlier they do not believe he was a current student.

Campus police released on Monday a photo of the man as a he left a Walgreens on Samish Way in Bellingham after making a purchase at 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Police said the man did not have identification on him when his body was found and his fingerprints have not turned up a match in police databases.
