EVERETT, Wash. — A man in his 30s is dead after an overnight shooting in Everett.

At around midnight Tuesday, police were called to the 2000 block of 26t Street after hearing about a shooting.

“When police arrived they found a male with an apparent gunshot wound. They began administering aid and the male succumbed to his wounds,” said Ora Hamel, spokesperson for Everett Police.

Colin Bynum says he was driving by and noticed police had the road blocked off.

“I was coming through here last night, and I saw just over here, there was a bunch of police vehicles, and they were parked blocking the road, I mean, they were everywhere,” said Bynum.

Investigators were seen searching the front yard of a house and several evidence markers were laid out nearby.

Police say they’ve arrested the suspect.

“The suspect stayed on scene. He was taken into custody when officers arrived. He was a male in his 50s,” said Hamel.

Hamel says the two men knew each other. However, right now the relationship between them remains unclear.

“Well, it’s unfortunate. Any loss of life is unfortunate. I’m glad that there’s not a person running around with a gun. I’m glad the police got him,” said Bynum.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
