Anna Nguyen disappeared 21 years ago next week. Just this past Friday, King County detectives arrested her ex-boyfriend Phan Seng, for her murder.
"I wanted to thank the King County homicide team," her daughter, Kim Tien, said Tuesday.
Kim Tien was just 11 years old when her mother disappeared.
Nguyen's car was found in the parking lot of the Riverside Casino.
Detectives recently reviewed nearly 300 hours of old surveillance video and spotted Seng.
"I finally have closure," Tien said. "It's a feeling, it's hard to describe but beyond happy, content, very finally, yes."
But growing up without her mother was hard.
"Without my mom I lost many benefits. I see other children with both their parents and I see I only have one parent and that parent's not even there. So, it was really hard."
And her mother's body still hasn't been found.
"Even though it takes time, you want to know like in my case, where is her body."
She's also thinking of other survivors.
"I wanted to give a positive message to them to have hope, you know they will find closure and the feeling is beyond happiness. It cannot be described."
Asked what her mother would think Tien responded, "I guess she's probably happy that I didn't give up."
The Sheriff's department doesn't have a designated cold case squad and Kim Tien said she'd like to see them get the money for one.
Seng has been charged with second-degree degree murder. He's being held on $2 million bond and has a court appearance next month.
