PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Statistics from the Washington State Patrol reveal the spots on Interstate 5 and state routes in Pierce County where drivers are most likely to get a ticket.
Last year, the WSP wrote 2,717 tickets in the area of milepost 129 near 84th Street in Lakewood.
The stretch of highway on state Route 16 where it crosses with I-5 is another ticketing hotspot, with 2,191 citations issued between mileposts 1 and 2 last year.
Areas on state Route 16 near the I-5 interchange also have a high number of tickets, with 2,191 issued between mileposts 1 and 2 last year, KIRO 7's partner, the News Tribune, reported.
The WSP said those areas are targeted because of a problem with aggressive drivers.
Other problem areas include I-5 around milepost 127 near the 512 interchange and milepost 139 near Porter Way in Milton.
Speeding is the top reason for the tickets given in those areas along I-5, police said.
