SEATTLE — The northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 reopened Monday night, nearly eight hours after a tanker truck overturned near downtown Seattle.

The tanker crashed at about 10:11 a.m., and two or three other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Both directions of I-5 were closed between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge because of the crash.

Responders said the truck was carrying propane.

Three male patients were taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition and with non-life-threatening injuries.

Seattle police and the Washington State Patrol evacuated the homeless camps under I-5 and put out campfires.

A hazmat team was at the scene as crews were off loading the propane in the tank.

At about 6 p.m., the trailer was lifted upright and both directions of I-5 reopened.
