SEATTLE — The SR 520 Bridge will be closed this weekend as crews work on the new Evergreen Point Road overpass on the east side of the bridge.
Crews are constructing a lid over the road and will install 238 concrete panels.
“They’ll just lie down on top of the girders, and then in some of the other areas, we’ll supplement that with plywood forms,” said Steve Strand with the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Crews will also inspect the pontoons of the floating bridge this weekend.
When crews close the highway, SR 520 remains open between Montlake Boulevard and I-5. In Bellevue, the 108th Avenue Northeast on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 remains open and in Seattle, the Montlake Boulevard ramps from eastbound SR 520 and to westbound SR 520 remain open.
The bridge will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
