The Seattle Seahawks may no longer have Russell Wilson, but DK Metcalf, one of the team’s new leaders, is set to stick around for a while, as he has signed a $72 million contract extension.
The deal runs through 2026 when the Pro Bowl wide receiver will be 28-years-old.
The three-year, $72 million contract extension with $58.2 million guaranteed and a position-record $30 million signing bonus makes him the sixth highest-paid receiver in the NFL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It also gives the Seahawks a big piece to build around after the departures of Wilson and Bobby Wagner.
Metcalf said he plans to use some of the money to help his hometown of Oxford, Mississippi.
Pete Carroll called signing an iconic player like DK “a great day for the 12′s.”
