SEATTLE, Wash. — The Mariners make a move on their day off and add another pitcher.
Mariners General Manager Justin Hollander and Mariners PR announced today via press release that the M’s have claimed right-handed pitcher Nolan Kingham.
Kingham made his MLB debut last Monday with the Texas Rangers, where he pitched one inning and allowed one run. The Rangers then placed Kingham on waivers last Friday, Aug. 7.
Despite a single MLB appearance, Kingham has an extensive minor league record. Kingham is 26-36 after six seasons with both the Atlanta Braves and Rangers. Overall, Kingham has a 4.56 ERA, three saves, 138 walks, and 377 strikeouts over 127 games, according to the press release.
As the Mariners’ 40-man roster sits at just 37 players, no current players were moved. Kingham will first stop off at the Tacoma Rainiers.
The Mariners are sitting four games behind in the AL West, after being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend. They face the New York Yankees tomorrow, Aug. 11.
